Welcome to the Groups Page . . . We
wanted an area where it would be easy for you to find out about the
local groups that meet at the PRC and find out more about them!
The Corning Autism Parent Support Group
was started May 2008, to raise public awareness about Autism. This
group meets every 4th Thursday of the month at 6pm in the United Way
Conference room on the second level of the Southeast Steuben County
Library. The children are welcome to play at the Nonnie Hood Parent
Resource Center during the parent/caregiver support group meeting
time. PRC staff, volunteers, and Arc of Steuben staff help to
provide supervision of the children's play.
The group assists parents in forming new relationships with other
parents who have children with Autism. This group has become very
informational for all who attend. They share their experiences,
frustrations, and successes. The children are also forming new
friends at the resource center. The parent group invites speakers to
attend also, depending on what the parents are interested in.

Park, Watkins Glen Farm Sanctuary, and the Ithaca Sciencenter.

have included stretching your budget, speech development, and

in the past we've eaten at Applebee's or went to the Jazz Festival
on Market Street.

Corning Dad's Group Online at YAHOO! Groups
The Nonnie Hood Parent Resource Center has created an online
discussion group for dads and father figures alike to use in
conjunction with our monthly "Dad's Group" at the PRC. It allows
fathers to discuss and post topics relative to life events that
occur on a daily basis, interesting parenting topics and those
topics also specific to fatherhood. This online discussion group is

quite simple to access at anytime during the day.
